Wave Two Comic Book Creators Announced

It’s a pleasure to welcome back Phil Winslade (2000 AD), as one of this year’s comic con guests as well as new guest Ian Edginton (2000 AD), Ian Richardson (The Judge Dredd Megazine), JaKe Detonator (How To Speak Wookie, Star Wars), and John McCrea (Hitman, The Boys).

‘Lawless’ Book 3 by writer Dan Abnett and artist Phil Winslade

Phil Winslade is a veteran of the industry. As well as his work for 2000 AD, his considerable talents as an artist have graced the pages of a variety of comics for DC, Vertigo and Marvel, including Batman, Daredevil, Goddess, Spider-Man and the legendary Steve Gerber’s Howard the Duck and Nevada. As well as being the co-creator of Lawless, his work with the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic includes a story for Tharg’s Terror Tales, several Judge Dredd strips, including a one-off Judge Dredd for Free Comic Book Day 2017.

‘Scarlet Traces’ by writer Ian Edginton and artist d’Isreali

Ian Edginton is one of Britain’s best-known comics writers. He has worked for Lucasfilm, Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox to adapt Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, Predator and Terminator properties, as well as with the H.G. Wells estate to adapt War of the Worlds for Dark Horse. He adapted Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’ and H.P. Lovecraft’s ‘The Call of Cthulhu’ (both illustrated by D’Israeli) for SelfMadeHero’s graphic anthologies Nevermore and The Lovecraft Anthology, Volume I. With artist Rob Deas, he also adapted Pride and Prejudice for SelfMadeHero. In 2007, his graphic novel Scarlet Traces: The Great Game was nominated for Best Limited Series and Best Writer at the prestigious Eisner Awards.

Judge Dredd by Ian Richardson

Ian Richardson is a comic book artist who has drawn Future Shocks, Sinister Dexter and Judge Dredd for 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine. Outside of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, he has worked for Image Comics, Marvel UK and Dark Horse Comics, drawing such iconic properties as Captain America, Iron Man and Halo.

How to Speak Wookie by writer Wu Kee Smith and artist JAke Detonator

JAKe is an illustrator, graphic designer, comic artist, writer and animation director based in London. His iconic work for the Prodigy on the Fat of The Land LP brought him to the attention of an international audience. His work for Lucasfilm on the Star Wars and Indiana Jones properties has been reproduced worldwide. His illustrations appear in the bestselling Mighty Book of Boosh and the intergalactic manual How To Speak Wookiee, and have been published in the NME, the TimesEsquire and Time Out, among many others.

‘Dead Eyes’ #5 by writer Gerry Duggan and artist John McCrea

John McCrea has been drawing comics for more than 35 years (his most famous work is Hitman for DC Comics, and has worked on Wolverine, Deadpool, Spider-Man and the Hulk for Marvel, Batman, Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Superman for DC, creator-owned books The Atheist, Mythic and Dead Eyes for Image Comics, The Boys for Dynamite and Judge Dredd for 2000 AD.
